Who we are

J Balaji Group (“J Balaji”, “we”, “us”, “our”) is a multi-division enterprise established in 2007 and based in the Greater Banjul Area, The Gambia. The group is made up of J Balaji Enterprise (furniture, doors, granite and tiles, hardware, luggage and Piaggio / Hiroshima electric mobility), J Balaji Roofing Industries Limited (roofing sheets, paints and coatings) and J Balaji Industries Limited · Bamboo Garden Hotel (hospitality and leisure).

This policy explains what personal information we collect through jbalaji.com, why we collect it, who we share it with and what choices you have. It applies to this website and to enquiries that reach us through it — by form, e-mail, telephone or WhatsApp.

Information you give us

We only ask for what we need to answer you properly:

• Enquiry and quotation requests — your name, telephone number, e-mail address, the division or product you are asking about, and whatever you write in the message box.
• Catalogue lists — the items you save while browsing the catalogue, so they can be sent to our counter as one request.
• Job applications — your name, contact details, the role you are applying for and any CV, certificates or supporting information you choose to send us.
• Direct contact — anything you tell us when you call, e-mail, message us on WhatsApp or visit a showroom, yard or hotel reception.

The enquiry form on this website does not upload your details to a database on our server. When you submit it, your browser opens WhatsApp or your own e-mail application with the message already written, and you send it yourself. Your saved catalogue list and your chosen language are kept in your own browser, not on our servers.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, ours records some technical information when you visit:

• device and browser type, screen size, operating system and approximate location (from your IP address);
• the pages you open, how long you stay, and the site or advert that referred you;
• basic error and performance information that helps us keep the site working.

This is collected through Google Analytics (loaded via Google Tag Manager) and is used in aggregate. We do not use it to try to identify individual visitors.

Cookies and browser storage

A cookie is a small file a website stores on your device. We use very few:

• Analytics cookies (_ga, _ga_*) — set by Google Analytics to count visits and understand which pages are useful.
• Language cookie (googtrans) — set when you pick French, Spanish, Portuguese or Chinese from the language selector, so the site stays in that language as you move between pages.
• Local storage — remembers your language choice and any catalogue list you build. It stays in your browser and is never sent to us.

You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings at any time. Blocking them will not stop you using the site, but your language choice and saved list may not be remembered.

How we use your information

• to answer enquiries and prepare quotations;
• to process, confirm, deliver and install orders, and to handle after-sales service and warranty claims;
• to consider job applications and contact candidates;
• to keep proper business, accounting and tax records;
• to understand which products and pages people are interested in, so we can improve the website and our stock;
• to meet legal or regulatory obligations in The Gambia.

We do not use your details for automated decision-making, and we do not send marketing messages to people who have not asked for them.

Who we share it with

We do not sell personal information. We share it only where it is needed:

• Within the group — an enquiry is passed to the company that can actually answer it (enterprise, roofing or hospitality).
• Service providers — our website host, delivery and installation teams, and technical providers such as Google (Analytics, Fonts, Translate) and WhatsApp, which process data under their own terms.
• Professional advisers and authorities — where we are required to by law, or to establish or defend a legal claim.

Because services such as Google and WhatsApp operate internationally, information handled through them may be processed outside The Gambia.

How long we keep it

Enquiries and quotations are kept while we are dealing with them and for a reasonable period afterwards, so we can honour warranties and answer follow-up questions. Order and accounting records are kept for as long as Gambian tax and company law requires. Unsuccessful job applications are kept for up to twelve months in case a suitable role opens, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.

Keeping information safe

This website is served over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. Access to enquiry messages, order paperwork and personnel files is limited to the staff who need it. No system is completely secure, so please do not send sensitive information such as full bank or card details by e-mail or WhatsApp — payments are handled at our counter or through the arrangements confirmed with you in writing.

Your choices and rights

You may ask us to:

• tell you what personal information we hold about you;
• correct anything that is wrong or out of date;
• delete information we no longer need to keep;
• stop contacting you, or withdraw a consent you gave us.

Children

This website is meant for adults and for business customers. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, please contact us and we will remove it.

Other websites and services

Our pages link to services we do not control — WhatsApp, Google Maps, social media and manufacturers’ sites. Once you follow such a link, that provider’s own privacy policy applies, and we are not responsible for how they handle your information.

Translated pages

The language selector uses Google Translate to render this site in French, Spanish, Portuguese and Chinese. The translation is produced automatically by Google, and the text sent to be translated is processed by Google under its own terms. The English version of this policy is the authoritative one.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our services or the law change. The date at the top of the page always shows when it was last revised, and the current version is the one published here.
